Gas Heated Hot Tubs

Hot tubs are a great invention. Electric and gas heated hot tubs are even better - but what hot tub heating elements are best for you?

Hot tubs are great for unwinding and relaxing. They can be very therapeutic and are often the perfect way to ease away aching muscles or headaches. Hot tubs also are used by many families for socializing purposes. With the prices constantly going down, they have become more and more popular throughout the world and especially in the United States and Europe where they sell fast and widely.

So why is a gas heated hot tub so important? Hot tub heaters are, naturally, used to heat up the tub. Without them, the water will be mainly dependent on the external air temperatures. A gas heated hot tub gives you a constant temperature environment for you to be comfortable in, much like a gas heated room temperature of 68-74 degrees gives you a comfortable room environment.

So why a gas heated hot tub instead of electric? Number one is the price. Even though prices of both types of hot tubs have come down, the gas heated hot tub tends to be a bit cheaper. The number two reason is also price. Gas, in most parts of the country, tends to cost less than electricity. So a  gas heated hot tub will have less operational costs than an electric heated hot tub.

Gas hot tub heaters do have their negatives, however. They are very expensive to install at a typical retail price exceeding $1000. Also, they require their own gas line and a substantial amount of room.

Both electric and gas powered heaters can generate enough power to heat a standard sized hot tub. A gas heater is virtually maintenance free, because it has no loose parts and needs no electricity. Heating a hot tub needing 40,000 BTUs per day (a unit used to measure quantity of heat, named as the quantity of energy necessary to raise the temperature of water) with gas would approximately $9 per month

Gas Hot Tub Heater Considerations

Hot tub heaters come in various sizes. You don't want to buy a heater that is too big for your tub, you'll just end of wasting gas. You also, don't want to buy a gas hot tub heater that is too small. You'll find that you are constantly running it at maximum capacity - causing it to wear out faster and also waste energy. So do your research and get the right size heater for your tub.

You also want to make sure that the gas hot tub heater will work with the hot tub model that you buy. It may surprise you that not all hot tub heaters work with all hot tubs.

Lastly, even though electric and gas heated hot tubs are the most popular, you'll find some manufacturers offering wood-fired heaters and solar powered heaters for hot tubs.

How To Move a Hot Tub
A hot tub is a big investment, so making plans as to how to move a hot tub is important if you are planning a move and want to take your hot tub with you.

You Know How To Wire A Hot Tub - But Should You?
Learning how to wire a hot tub while not particularly difficult, can be very dangerous and life threatening if done incorrectly. You could electrocute yourself or seriously injure someone in your family.
