DIY Hot Tub

A good quality hot tub can set you back a fair amount of money. To minimize the cost, however, you can build a diy hot tub that will not only save you money but will allow you to put in all the custom features you desire.

Hot tubs always look very inviting and can be a wonderful way to spend an afternoon by yourself or with company.  But the accompanying price tag can sometimes put them out of many people's reach.

Yes you can find reasonably priced hot tub spas at Costco but there is another option to consider, and that's the diy hot tub.  These are still pricey, but they can be as much as several thousand pounds cheaper than buying an all in model.  A diy hot tub also offers the distinct advantage of being able to fit into whatever kind of garden you already have.  There is much more choice when it comes to color and materials than a standard hot tub design would give you.

Do You Need To Create Your Own Design From Scratch?

This depends on how adventurous you are, and how good you are at building.  A diy hot tub can be bought as a flat pack kit, which gives you the tub itself as a moulded piece, and all the materials necessary to build the frame to surround it.

Wood is the perfect material to use for a diy hot tub, and it can be painted or stained to match any existing fixtures in your garden.  If it is set up next to or on some decking, for example, you can use the same wood design and wood stain to make it blend in and become more a part of its surroundings.

You may find that buying a diy hot tub means you can have a better tub than you might otherwise be able to afford if you got a complete tub “off the shelf”.  You can select the tub mould you really like and then build the ideal surround to meet your needs.

An internet search will also turn up manufacturers who supply plans which you can follow in order to build your own diy hot tub, and even a summerhouse or shelter to accompany it.

If you really want to go all out and get back to basics, you can shun the moulded hot tub designs altogether and build your own tub from nothing but wood.  You will need to be reasonably good at building things for this to work well, but it is quite possible to build a hot tub that resembles a round barrel with straight sides and the top cut off.

Making your own diy hot tub can be a rewarding experience, and the finished result will be well worth it when you can enjoy the fruits of your labor on a warm sunny day.
